Quarantine & Isolation Scenarios for COVID-19 Exposure

Effective January 18, 2022, Maryvale has adopted current CDC guidance for COVID-19 quarantine and isolation scenarios (last updated on March 30, 2022.)

The date of exposure is considered day 0. Day 1 is the first full day after last contact with a person who has COVID-19.

If you were exposed to COVID-19 and are up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations:

  • No need to quarantine unless symptoms develop.
  • Even if symptoms don't develop, take a PCR test at least 5 days after last exposure to someone with COVID-19.
  • Watch for symptoms until 10 days after last exposure.
  • Wear a well-fitted mask (surgical, N95, or KN95) for 10 full days when around others.
  • If symptoms develop, isolate immediately and get tested. Stay home until you know the results. Refer to Isolation Scenarios for further details.

If you were exposed to COVID-19 and are NOT up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations:

  • Quarantine for at least 5 full days OR test-to-stay.
  • Take a PCR test at least 5 days after last exposure to someone with COVID-19 OR test-to-stay from home on day 1, 3, 5, and 7 after exposure. Please email your test result to nurse@maryvale.com with name and date on test kit before coming to campus.

If you were exposed to COVID-19 and received a positive PCR COVID-19 test result within the past 90 days:

  • No need to quarantine unless symptoms develop.

Isolation Scenarios

If you tested positive for COVID-19 OR have symptoms, regardless of vaccination status:

  • Isolate at home for 5 days.
  • Return to campus on day 6 if there are no symptoms and there has been no fever for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication).
  • Wear a well-fitted mask (surgical, N95, or KN95) for 10 full days when around others.

Travel Policies

Maryvale reminds all families of our travel policy, which has been in effect since August 2021.

These policies pertain to travel by plane, train, commercial bus and cruise ship. Please note the differences for fully vaccinated versus unvaccinated individuals.

Vaccinated

Domestic Travel: No quarantine required, regardless of the mode of transportation. If symptomatic, test and return to campus following a negative test result. If positive, isolate for 10 days and return to campus on day 11, if asymptomatic.

International Travel: No quarantine required. Take a PCR test on day 3, 4 or 5 after returning from travel and before returning to campus. If the PCR test result is negative, return to campus. If the PCR test result is positive, isolate for 10 days and return to campus on day 11 if asymptomatic.

Unvaccinated

Current CDC guidelines recommend the same travel guidelines for domestic and international public transportation, regardless of travel location.

Individuals cannot return to campus until a negative PCR test is received. The test must be taken on days 3, 4, or 5 after returning from travel. If the PCR test is negative, quarantine for 7 days; return to campus on day 8 if asymptomatic. If the PCR test result is positive, isolate for 10 days and return on day 11 if asymptomatic.

If an individual chooses not to be tested, they must quarantine for at least 10 days and may return on day 11 if asymptomatic.
